It seems as if a war is going on between top brands regarding clock speeds of their respective processors; keeping over-clocking as a side issue right now.

Basically, Intel and AMD are considered to be the prime rivals, but recent news show that a Japanese brand has not only broken the previous Intel record of world’s fastest clocked CPU, but has reduced it to nothing.

The company that has accomplished this success is called Fujitsu. It is maker of various electronics as well as a developer of microprocessors.

It is an eight core SPARC64 VIIIfx Venus CPU that has been clocked at a marvelous speed of 128 billion computations per second. This speed has abolished the previously existing record of Intel by a factor of 2.5. This awesomely speedy processor belongs to the tiny family, and this is another reason that gives a feel of competition to the rivals.

Not only is it smaller, but its energy efficiency is much more than the forerunners. It is based on 45nm circuitry that explains a lot about how it broke the Intel record, as Intel’s record holder (dual core Itanium 2) was based on 90nm circuitry.

To maintain the balance between this rivalry, Intel has also shown interest n utilizing 45nm chip for their subsequent Itanium. The record holder Venus chip uses only 33% of what Itanium 2 uses that amounts to about 35W. Fujitsu has not given any time frame in which this super computing chip will be available, neither is it known that which brand will be encasing Venus.

Malicious codes are a threat to the whole computer world. They may be in the form of worms, viruses or Trojan horses. They infect the systems and the users lose their important data.

Such a latest discovery has been made by Panda Labs where they have found a 56th variant of a family of worms, which swindles Facebook users. It is called Boface.BJ worm.

How does it work? It is important to know how it cons the users of global social networking hub Facebook so that one can stay away from such fraudulent programs.

It makes the user believe that their system has been infected by some virus, and they must buy an antivirus. This way, the worm downloads and installs downloads and installs rogue anti malware.

Panda’s ActiveScan online scanner has compiled data which shows that since 2008, 1 % of all scanned systems were infected by a variant of this very worm. Thus the technical director of Panda Labs Luis Corrons said, “Extrapolating this data with an estimate of the number of Facebook users, about 200 million, we approximate that two million users could be infected. The increasing number of variants in circulation is due to the aim of cyber-crooks to infect as many users as possible and therefore boost their financial returns.”

40 % of these infections have been identified in US, whereas the other 60 % are scattered in the entire world. Within 4 hours of the infection, the worm takes action as soon as the users of infected systems log on to their Facebook accounts. Again, it sends a message to all friends in user’s network directing them to a YouTube link where they download the fake antivirus disguised as a media player. So Facebook users, beware!

Google and News Corp. had entered a deal worth $900 million in August 2006. This deal will soon come to its end, but this soon is still more than a year ahead i.e. in June 2010.

This is being whispered that this deal is not going to be redone by both parties on the previous terms and conditions, as Google is not very happy with most of the things related to My Space. Though My Space might be doing well for itself, Google is by no means happy with it.

Though most of the takings of this deal are to be associated with My Space as it is generating most of the revenue;

Google and Google promoters are not happy with it. The job of My Space is to display search results and advertisements. What My Space is doing is displaying exact Google search results to the users, which of sure won’t be required by the users. If they want Google results, why would they search on My Space?

In this upcoming last year of deal, Google is bound to pay $75 million to My Space. All the latter has to do to get this payment is make certain search page view requirements. This goal is being attained by My Space through showing exact Google results to the viewers. This is something with which Google is very unhappy.

These guaranteed payments have nothing to do with the display advertising, which is going on very well. Google is doing a great job by providing the advertisers an access to innumerable My Space users. But we do not know whether My Space will go for renewal of the agreement on this basis or not.
