Nokia to announce its App Store version

nokia_logoThe upcoming Mobile World Congress would have a lot of, lot of or to be more exact almost all new mobile related news in itself, however, some early teasers have begun to appear even before the real show.

The reports regarding the launch of Nokia’s own version of App Store is also one of such teasers.

The Finnish seems quite impress with the success of Apple’s iPhone App Store and now has decided to announce to offer direct downloads of its Symbian to over 100m users around the world.

BBC HD downloads to be available at iTunes Store

bbc_hd_logoNow soon, you will be able to download your favourite HD versions of BBC shows from the Apple iTunes Store.

Though BBC has not yet announced this link-up from Apple, some spy kids at CNET have got some information about this coming service.

According to a BBC spokesperson, “BBC will soon release some High Definition titles on Apple’s iTunes Stores in UK and more information in this connection will be released in the next few weeks.”

You can already find BBC standard definition content on iTunes, but with the advent of this new service you will also download BBC HD content from iTunes store.

Online music Downloads to peter out CDs soon

This year, physical media seemed to a little bit good and particularly with the Woolworth’s decline and VHS purchases it could be gathered that there were only few retail chains to buy DVDs and CDs.

According to the research firm Gartner, the time has come when the music recorders will have to more focus on downloads than on CDs.

Mark McGuire, who is an analyst at Gartner, says in this connection, “To survive in this competitive setting, different music labels will have to adopt a strategy of ‘digital first’, as some big labels didn’t succeed in stopping piracy as well as getting nice business in their CD businesses.”

Apple comes out with 2008′s Top10 App downloads for iPhone

With 2008 almost on the way of ending and close to 10,000 applications with them, Apple has come out with a series of lists, which outlines the application scoring the most number of downloads since App Store was launched in July.

The lists have been separated by whether applications are free or paid. Then, they are separated on the basis of overall look and then by every main application category (entertainment, games, utilities, music and social networking). While overall top applications shouldn’t come as a surprise to anyone, who has taken occasional glance at built-in top download pages of iPhone, there are certain remarkable names concealed in the data that are separated categorically.
