Google Chrome Browser add-ons

Google chrome as we all know is a very popular tool. It has recently been launched and has already become a very popular browser. However, a lot of users are unaware of the add-ons it provides. These add-ons greatly enhance the performance of the browser. The first add on that comes to mind is the Google chrome backup. It is a tiny tool that helps you to create, backup, restore and manage the Google chrome profile. Your profile can hold personal data like name, history, bookmarks, favourites, etc.

To use this add on you will have to install it first. This tool supports the 0.2.149.27 version of Google chrome. First select a profile from the given drop down menu. This can be done by slicking on the profile tools menu. In order to create backup for your current profile, click on the backup profile option and then select a proper backup path. A new file is created. This file will hold your profile. Similarly, click on restore profile to restore your profile back to the older one. With the help of this add on you can create or delete profiles. The tray icon enables fast access. The option of running the Google chrome backup is available at the windows start up.

The second add on which we would like to tell you about is the chrome loader. You have already witnessed the fast and flashy performance of Google chrome. Now you must want to take it to your thumb drive wherever you travel. For this you just have to download and run chromeloader.exe. This will save all your information to the thumb drive. If portability is really what you want then this portable chrome should help you out.

The third and a very popular type of add on is the xchrome. It is a sort of theme manager for the Google chrome browser. It enables one to install a particular skin within seconds without having to go through the hassles of the default.dll file. Check it out today to see what it offers. Xchrome also allows users to install themes even if they do not have one.

The fourth add on would definitely be chromepass. It is becoming increasingly popular by the day. It is essentially a password recovery tool. It allows you to view the names and passwords of users stored in the Google chrome web browser. The following information is accessible. You can see the origin url, action url, user name field, user name, password and created time. Thus it is of great utility if you want to keep a check on all content.

The last utilities add on that we shall mention is the dev channel. Google chrome publishes new releases to the dev channel. Thus it gives you access to a whole lot of information. The dev channel in turn gives way to features, community interaction and bug fixes. The channel is extremely useful. It is of great use for web developers wanting to test their sites or scripts. It is also of use to testers wanting to fix bugs. Also for developers working for Google chrome, it is perhaps one of the best utilities available. However, dev channel releases are less stable than beta channels. Automatic updates are accessible every one to two weeks.

The Chrome browser was quite hit when it was released in September last year and it soon took 1% of the browser market after its launch, however, afterward Firefox kept its growth and Chrome significantly dropped.

Chrome browser has not been released for Mac or Linux OS computers yet, and according to Brain Rakowski, who is Google’s Product Manager at Chrome, the development of Chrome browser for Mac and Linux is at early stages right now.

Rakowsiki told in an interview that thier browser could provide various web pages quite well right now, but when it comes to users experience it is,indeed, very basic.

“Our team has not yet spent a sufficient amount of time in building its features, contrarily, we are still focusing on making it more stable and to get its architecture rights.”

Internet Explorer is still the most popular web browser for those who are using Windows, but the gap in web browser market is being narrowed by Firefox. Similarly, there is a considerable increase in the number of Apple’s Opera and Safari browsers.

Right from downloading, installing to overall use, Google Chrome is really a cool web browser. It is quick, it is painless and absolutely free from those downloading issues that you might have seen in Firefox 3.0 browser right after its launch in July 08.

Google looks quite well aware of the fact that beauty lies in simplicity, at least the simple and clear designing of the Chrome seems to suggest so. It has a small transparent logo over the tabs.

No status bar has been given there, but you can see the status of page loading at screen’s bottom.

Along with the address bar (Omnibar in Google’s terms) and two menu items, there is a small backward, forward and reload tab buttons for every tab. You can also rip the tabs to open a new window on the desktop.

The address or Omnibar is something more than just to type URLs. It also works as a search box and there isn’t any separate search bar. All you need to do is to type your keywords in the search box and to Enter it that takes you to your required websites.

When it comes to speed, the Google Chrome looks quite sharper than the FireFox from every edge. When you form a Google Chorme tab in a different process every time, in the Task Manager of your Windows a Chrome.exe list begins to build up there.

It shows that one spoiled tab can become the cause of crashing your all surfing session and that’s why you must keep a close look while opening different tabs particularly when some less powerful machine is in your use.

Whether it’s about chomping through media sites or streaming video and music, it munches through nicely and with much ease. You are at your homepage every time when you open a new tab and here you can see thumbnails of your most visited websites. Similarly, there is also a box to explore your surfing history and get the details of recently bookmarked pages.

But as they say none is perfect, some imperfections have also been noticed in the Google Chrome too. It doesn’t seem to work nicely on HP laptop with the touchpad.

And Plug ins are not available for it even after six months. But such sorts of issues are quite frequent in most of new versions of some browsers. So we can hope that these trivial fixes to be done whenever the next version will be out there.
