In Nokia’s premium range of phones, the Nokia 8800 Arte is the latest handset after the 8800, 8800 Sirocco and 86 Luna respectively.

It seems that Nokia doesn’t seem satisfied with the price tag of £400 – £500 and that’s why the price is almost double. Perhaps, it’s because of price tag that the many of these phones are not seen in the street.

The standard 8800 Arte has a black metal and glass finish, but a Sapphire Arte version is also available in the market. Truly speaking, the Sapphire Arte doesn’t seem impressive at all, however, the black one is quite charming.

The best thing in the 8800 Arte its subtle design details and the highest quality materials and they become quite obvious when the phone responds. For example, you need just to turn the phone face down if you want to silence a ring. Similarly, when you tap the phone, it begins to display the time.

There are living wallpaper in the phone that change according to the time and state of the phone. Just like many other premium range phones, it has exclusive themes, graphics and ringtones. Weight-wise it’s quite heavy with 150g and this weight is because of excessive use of metal that can be seen in very and cranny of the phone. The Nokia 8800 Arte is slim, but we can’t say it an ultra-slim phone. It’s quite thinner than Samsung’s slide phone. The only thing that can be improved further is somewhat small keypad.

With the Nokia 8800 Arte, you can get several extras in the sales package (considering its price, you may not find it generous enough) including a linen-lined pouch, Bluetooth headset and a desk stand.

It seems that the Arte has been aimed at those who have plenty of disposable income and who want a design that is exclusively ahead of many other latest tech gadgets. Similarly, it is suitable for those who want to create an impression by sacrificing some degree of usability.

Mobile phone are becoming more like tiny computers with every passing day and some researchers says that the time is near when hackers will get their dirty paws all your messaging and other private stuff.
Georgia Institute of Technology’s researchers say the mobile phones might be turned into ‘botnets’ and would be used to topple important websites or organizations. The handsets may easily infect because of the budding nature of mobile internet.

Cell phone botnets can be used in a variety of ways to PCs, for example, you can call premium rate numbers without being noticed by the owner or buy ringtones automatically from some websites.

Botnet expert Joe Stewart, who is director of Malware Research at SecureWorks, says: “The question rises can they do it in an effective manner and make a lot of money without any risk.”“And if they succeed doing it, they will surely do it.”

Many companies including Symantec have begun developing software to fight with viruses and botnets on handsets, but the problem they are facing is that these programmes are needed to run constantly that is not good for battery life. So, let’s watch and wait who succeeds first hackers or anti-hackers?

Microsoft’s Scott Guthrie says in this connection that Apple is contrarily ready to facilitate plug-ins such as Flash and Silverlight.

“We are keen to be able to run Silverlight on the iPhone, but still whatever software is run on the iPhone is ultimately controlled by Apple.” Guthrie says.

“Now, whatever they have said is that they are considering enabling browser plug-ins such as Flash or Silverlight to run on the phone.”

On the other hand, Silverlight on Andriod is looking more promising as it’s an open source OS that has been developed by many companies including Google.

T-mobile’s G1 Android, which is the first Android phone, has huge pre-orders and Microsoft will surely consider this platform.

According to Guthrie, “Google phone is somewhat different and it’s for an open platform that we are looking at.”

So far design is concerned; the V3i has almost the same look as of the original RAZAR phone with 14mm super-slim case and cool back-lighted keypad. The thing that is different is color otherwise; it is unchanged (virtually).

The display is very similar to the original one with high quality 262k color TFT screen that has 176×200 pixels high resolution.  There is a small but colorful external display and you can see the useful information like battery life, signal strength and incoming calls there.

Apparently there is no change, but almost every has been changed inside in this V3i as the low resolution camera of V3 has been replaced with a new 1.23MP camera that can also record videos. There is also a music player now and memory can be expanded to store more than 150 tracks. You can use the music player even in the airplane by using the airplane mode of the music player. It is available with Apple iTunes software, but not in the UK version.

For connectivity, the V3i supports Bluetooth wireless connectivity and it has been packed with MP3 ringtones, an integrated speakerphone, Java games and quad-band capability for global roaming. So far the battery life is concerned; it is, no doubt, reasonably good.

The V3i is a nice handset (though it hasn’t been packed with a lot of bells and whistles like in the Sony Ericsson K800i and the Samsung D900).But the specification of V3i are awesome and style is also charming. V3im and V3i are almost the same and the only difference between these two is that V3i is available with addition of iTunes.

Let me tell you about specs: It has an average 2megapixel camera, FM radio (great) ,a 2.5mm annoying headphone jack and a memory card slot.

Yeah (aside from specs) it full of grace and good looks with an astounding combination of delicacy and sturdiness that makes you look at it again and again.

So far release is concerned, no exact date but expected in September. So, you wouldn’t have to wait long to catch that beauty but about specs hmmmmm.
