Here is the first mobile phone produced by the Nokia Cellular Company in 1989.

Nokia was initially involved in developing some mobile radio communication devices since 1960. These technologies were based on ‘oG’ standards, which were pre-cellular used in mobile radio telephony. In 1979, they further worked together and developed Mobira Oy. This company proceeded to create mobile phones that happened to come alive in 1981.

In 1984, Nokia bought Salora Oy and gained full ownership of the company and named it Nokia-Mobira Oy. They launched World’s first Nokia phones in 1987, and gained anonymous boost and publicity later on. Today, Nokia phones are still high in demand and leading the World’s with its new, advanced, and every time better quality.

The thing that is really enjoyable is the large and ultra high-resolution LCD display that boasts the latest 16 million color display technology. The display allows you to easily customize with a choice of themes.

It features a 2 megapixel camera without autofocus, a competent music player but with support for Bluetooth stereo headsets, a video camera, good connectivity through Bluetooth and USB, and 1 GB fixed memory. It’s true that there nothing to get quite excited, but it has all that most people care about. It’s a 3G phone, but video calling is missing as there is no front-facing camera. A Nokia Stereo Headset HS-82 and a microUSB Connectivity Cable CA-101 have been included in the sales package that shows how generous Nokia is.

A fixed memory of 1GB is one of the unusual features of the 6500 Classic 920 Mb of it is available to the user .It has good as well as bad points. Let’s talk about bad first: there isn’t any slot to increase the memory beyond 1 GB, but 920MB is still enough to store 200-300 songs and it makes all memory accessible in one place with copying data from internal memory to memory card. We reckon it a good solution for a mid-range sort of phone like the 6500 Classic.

Poor battery life is another thing to point out, but it is not surprising at all for a 3G handset .You may need to charge it every other day.

In short, the 6500 Classic is charming and loveable because of its beautiful design and easy to use features. You can’t say it all-singing and all-dancing sort of phone, but it is not necessarily a bad thing.  It has all that most people want to have from their phone, but it could be much better with a bit bigger key pad and good battery life.

‘Miniature mobile phone masts’ will be placed in 14 Ryanair’s 166 bargain-fare airplanes. So, now you can text or talk in the air as long as you want (or if your neighbor on flight doesn’t try to grab your phone and throttle you.)

These mini pico-cell powered phone masts could only handle around six calls at a time, but text must not jam the local in-flight network.

However, you need not to be so excited so soon, as O2 is planning to charge around £1.65 and £1.99 a minute to make or receive a call and for SMS 40p. An unspecified slice of this revenue will be given to Ryanair.

A spokesperson from Ryanair told that the company was planning to roll the service out across the entire fleet within next six months.

According to technology partner OnAir, the picocells that have been used in Ryanair’s in-flight mobile couldn’t interfere with any navigation equipment of the planes as it has been declared totally safe by the Aviation Safety Authority.

So far specs are concerned, they both are somewhat similar in specs and have a wealth of applications.

Though the N96 is big and wide, it feels nice in the hand with its decent built and solid chassis. On the other hand, iPhone 3G is smarter and wider than the N96.

It feels nice with aluminum back. In short, (without beating about the bush) iPhone 3G design is better than the N96.

iPhone’s applications are simple and easy to access while in the N96 we have the feel of menu climbing menu.

Both these phones don’t allow you to feel media deprived as they both are full of powerful media features. But the iPhone is on the edge with media power of its cousin iPod. Battery life of both these phones are almost the same as they both have to be recharged after a day’s moderate –to-heavy use. The 3G coverage of the Nokia N96 is the point that makes it a better phone than the Apple’s iPhone. The poor 3G coverage of Apple’s iPhone is an open secret.

The handsets that are workable with the service are all those that were used for the trial including the Nokia N81, N95, E51 and E65 and in near future more handsets will be added in this array.

With a conventional keypad, the Orsay is a standard slide phone, but at first glance it looks like a phone from new generation of LG touchscreen phones. The nicest thing in the Orsay is its 5mp camera that features an image stabilizer, autofocus, Schneider-Kreuznach lens and a macro feature for close-ups. There is no xenon flash, but it has a powerful LED flash. It has a DVD-like resolution of 720×480 pixels that makes video recording capabilities quite impressive.

Unlike many other slide phones, the Orsay has a considerably large screen .Though resolution of 240×320 pixels is standard, the display is quite nice. The built looks quite large and heavy but to some people. The joystick (doesn’t look durable) is not remarkable, still the keypad works nice.

It also has a bombastic music player and FM radio as well. The integrated memory is just 12 MB, however, it can be expanded up to 4GB if you buy a micorSD memory card. Thus, you will be able to store almost 1,000 songs. The MP3 tracks can also be used as ringtones in the Orsay.

With its auto-rotate function, the photos can be automatically rotated from portrait to landscape form. You can play Wii-style games as it has a motion sensor.

Bluetooth as well as USB are available for connectivity. Though it is not a 3G phone, you can browse the web with GPRS or EDGE and the large screen makes mobile internet experience quite well. Battery life is not bad too as the phone looks quite big and heavy because of that very Battery.
