Well, you may have flipped through the headlines that show Nissan has uncovered a prototype robot car drawing inspiration from the humble bee.

The new robot car ( named as BR23C) is a two-wheeled machine that has been developed together with Tokyo University as a part of the project that is being made for improving road safety and preventing accidents overall.

The bee inspiration of the car comes in the form of sensors that look for the coming objects and make the car move away in somewhat similar way a bee does in flight to avoid all the obstacles.

With the help of a laser rangefinder, this BR23C can scan a 180-degree field in front area and it is expected that there would be a rear sensor to offer total coverage. With its compound eyes, a typical bee can manage to sweep 300 degrees

However, the BR23C is not going to be into production yet and it’s on a prototype platform. But the company says that it will utilize the technology in cars like Pivo 2 that can move and quickly react to changing conditions.
