To inflame a new wave in LCD competition, Samsung Mobile Display is getting ready to produce its OLED TV that will be available in 14.1” and 31” screen sizes.

After the emergence of XEL-1 OLED TV from Sony, people have been waiting for the arrival of its true competitor, and now these new panels from Samsung are expected to give some really tough time to it, as they will be used in laptops.

Samsung is going to utilize a technology that is known as Fine Metal Mask technology, as some costly materials have also been dropped in an effort to make OLEDS cost effective.

The 14.1” display has a 1366×768 resolution with Widescreen XGA and you will find it equipped with all other traditional traits of the today’s available OLEDs that include contrast ratio of 1,000,000:1, and 2.7mm thickness, so we can really expect some really sleek laptops in the coming days.

When it comes to 31” TV panel, it is full HD with 1920X1080resolution and you will find the same contrast ratio as in the above stated display. It will be available with 8.9mm thickness. You will soon find some other LCDs in the coming days that are being designed to give a tough time to that depth.

When it comes to their release, no word so far and similarly no details have yet emerged regarding prices.

He explained that the company was concentrating to produce TV screens with OLED not the mobiles or other types of displays.

Glasgow says that he still believes the OLED TV screens have a valid place aside from plasma and LCD screens that are quite popular and adoring walls in many parts of the world.

“The company is working very hard to arrive at the next generation of screen sizes, as it is expected to be an energy-saving product with highly strong performance.”

Massive R&D efforts have been made for OLED and making big is not as easy as to make small. OLED is being frequently discussed within the company as well as with other manufacturers too,” he added.

CMEL seems to believe that the time is right to bring forward its efforts in OLED TV production in the form of a 25-inch screen that is just 1mm thick.

According to the New York Times, its drawing large crowds at Flat Panel Display International and the current effort looks the largest so far at such thickness.

CMEL has already displayed OLED screens with a 3mm thickness just like Sony’s consumer XEL-1 OLED TV. However, now it seems that some new production techniques have been used in the making of this 25-inch panel.

This new 1mm-thin OLED TV from CMEL has a WXGA screen resolution of 1366×768 that is quite close to HD quality. And it also has some usual OLED benefits of low power consumption and low image blur.

Sony also showed a 1mm thick OLED panel at that event, but this display was just of 11-inch and it was easily outdone by CMEL’s new effort.
