The software package that comes along has: Microsoft Office Ready 2007 (60 days trial version)
McAfee Internet Security Suite (with 60 days free virus updates), VAIO Recovery Utility – HDD recovery (hidden partition),Skype, Google Picasa, Adobe Standard 8, Google software package, WinDVD 8 for VAIO, Easy Media Creator 10, Windows Media Player 11 and Adobe Reader 8.1.

With all these high efficiency specifications, it has no Blu-ray drive. With an easy to handle weight, it is a perfect ‘work on move’. The screen size with a slight addition in the already existing 12 inches is rather making it easier to watch and work. In writing this difference seems nominal, but practically it gives a wider watch area.

It is a well designed, well equipped, and well furnished laptop ready to be in the hands of those who love to work in a sophisticated way. The keyboard is in line with the latest MacBooks generation. The Sony Vaio comes with a metallic look which is graceful, different and dazzling.

Although the specified battery time is 220 minutes, experiencing have proved it otherwise. Without putting the DVD to work, the battery works a little more than 2 hrs, which is a bit low. Another point to see, whether Sony is offering the market something new in this price? Well, it’s a harsh thing to say, a big no.

There is still room for much more. Sony can upgrade the system to better levels otherwise it will hardly take over the market with its present specification. Undoubtedly, it’s a great looking laptop, but it must be upgraded if it remains at this price for sale.

Different press sources have been saying different things, but AMD has made it clear that the company has no intention to produce a low-power processor that can be quite handy in the booming netbook market

AMD states that it prefers to look to machines like the MacBook Air for inspiration instead of griping the field already dominated by tiny PCs like Asus’s Eee PC line-up that has been powered by Intel Atom chips.

AMD’s CEO, Dirk Meyer says: “We are thinking about PC form factors and somewhat ignoring the netbook phenomenon right now.

Meyer’s colleague Bahr Mahony, who is a laptop-specialist, says: “A fairly large number of people are not contended with the experience they have on these mininotebook platforms.”

The recent reports about unsatisfied customers returning netbooks in a large numbers explain about the need to plan ahead and target the market for machines that have appealing prices with a decent level of computing power.

The MacBook Air is a nice example in this connection, as it relied on integrated Intel graphics at first iteration, whereas in the second a significantly powerful Nvidia powerful option was introduced to better serve Apple’s customers.

But, instead of building such boutique-style computers housing new AMD chips, sellers like to have a non-Intel route to target the middle ground at a price quite comparable to the pricy of the netbooks.
