Sony has posted today the results of its 4th quarter earnings which indicate a considerable drop of 95% in the company’s net profits.

According to the company, the sluggish holiday shopping season was the real culprit in their worse-than-expected quarterly results. In this quarter, different electronic items like cameras, TV and cell phones weren’t in people’s priority lists.

This huge drop in company’s profits came at the first time when the electronic division of the company posted its first ever operating loss. The company posted its first operating loss in 14 years.

Despite this huge drop in its net profit, the company still managed to have a 10.4billion yen profit, but it was quite meager than the 200.6b yen net profit a year back.

Nobuyuki Oneda, the Chief Financial Officer of the company, says in this connection: “There was quite deterioration in the economy just from the second half of the year, and foreign exchange affects it brought severe consequences to our business.”

These results were not quite shocking for the analysts, as Sony is always quite true in its financial predictions; the company has already reported that it’s expecting a 150b yen net loss for the current financial year.

The post in which HANNspree announced a 28in TV with Full HD capabilities (the HT09) wasn’t less than a bombshell for many a major television manufacturers.

The HT09 has a 1920×1200 pixels screen with a 16:10 screen ratio (though not good enough for widescreen viewing, quite impressive however.)

The thing that has been especially cared for is connectivity. It has 2xHDMI ports and 2x Scart inputs aside from composite, component and VGA. Similarly, a 3ms response rate is quite helpful to jitter from quick-moving imagery.

No doubt, it can be a good choice for its Full HD visuals, but the thing that let it down is the audio side. There are only two five-watt speakers and you may have spent some for extra audio enhancement to try out the latest HD movies.

But you need not to stick to the downside as the price tag is somewhat more-than reasonable for a full HDD TV. The HT09 will set you back in just £279.99.

Mitsubishi 65in TV with a side order of laserbeams will be available in $7000 as the company has made the announcement at CEDIA this year that is taking place in the US.

According to the company, its new 65in LaserVue rear-projection TV will be sold around $7K.

The cost hardly matches up with high-end HDTV that has almost similar specification. However, the company didn’t provide any detail the price of its 73in big bro.

This 10in deep LaserVue is quite larger as a modern TV, but if compared to its CRT ancestors, it is somewhat fragile. It has nice green credentials that make it consume minimal power if compared to other plasmas and LCDs.

Its mooted three dimensions are enough to make you mesmerized. The TVs will be shipped by the end of this month.

If you have got tired with the exhortations ‘ Press that red button now’, a novel twist on interactive TV , which allows you to have all chatting online while glued to the Google box, is waiting for you.

Oshaberi Terebi, a new Japanese service is behind the idea which has launched a public beta that offers real-time chatrooms to TV fans.

The users are given the option to join different chatrooms for every channel after downloading the software and starting a TV tuner. After doing that they can select avatars and start chatting with anyone who watches that show as well.
Yeah your guess is right, Oshaberi Terebei wants users to watch the mobile version of 1-seg, which is a well known digital TV in Japan and that can be added to a computer via flash drive in approx. £50.

At present, it seems that Chatterbox TV in Japan is limited to PC users but it has chances to make a nice move to mobile phones or TV sets with the Internet connection if it succeeds.

Yeah! It’s, indeed, surprising. Not even a month has passed when Sony announced its 80GB version of the PlayStation 3 and now there is a console with a 160GB hard drive. Surprising, but Sony is quite habitual to give surprises that’s why no wonder.

The new PS3 will be available with DualShock 3 controller as well as the historical adventure game Drake’s Adventure. The new PS3 has been scheduled to arrive in US during November this year and it will set you back in $499

160 GB boost for what? How many downloads from the PlayStation Network? This large step to double storage to 160GB seems pretty clear that it’s for movies.

As SCEA’s press release points out: “The bundle is, definitely, a great option for those consumers who want to have video delivery service of PlayStation Network as it offers downloads of new blockbuster movies and TV shows on an ongoing basis”

In UK, Sony seems to keep selling the 80GB Core Pack model in £299.99 and we can expect that the price of its big brother would be around £350.We will surely bring you more details as we get them.

To provide you more comfort and ease without much fuss, Mitsubishi is about to set out its LT-46149 and LT-52149 LCDs that have built-in 16-speaker sound projectors. Like many other sound bars that are being offered by some home audio makers, the iSP or Integrated Sound Projector has been designed to offer you the fantasy of surround sound with the nimbleness of spring sound back the walls and across the room.

The TV integration provides you a supple arrangement on-screen tool to denote your room’s size and favorite sweet spot size. In the high end the system we have listened about is l somewhat sharp but it’s without any doubt a great work and appealing offering from Mitsubishi for common TV watchers. The CableCard ready T.V. has the ability to support sound over PCM and HDMI inputs and provides 120Hz film judder that makes your favorite movies as they have been shot by a news crew. These 46-inch and 52- inch masterpieces will soon set you back in $3,299 and $3,699.

Samsung’s LE40A656 is an emblem of unique manufacturing process that produces Samsung’s well-known black gloss finish adding a delicate hint of deep red. Besides this stylistic mix, there is another industry’s first from Samsung as it’s the only flat panel T.V. to dole out with the use of glue or screws in the process of making. These efforts give this flat panel such looks as it has been craved from a hard block.

About Features

In addition to usual composite, S-video inputs and other component there are striking 4(v1.3) HDMI inputs.1080p/24 input can be accepted by the v1.3 HDMI’s that are quite favorable for Deep Color and can also control well-suited devices via single remote using the CEC standard.

MP3 music files and digital still JPEG’s can be enjoyed with the USB. There is an instinctive slide show function that allows users to select the speed of a slide show and users can even set an MP3 track as background music.

Its worth mentioning that there is a 120MHz mode in the LE40A656 and it has been designed to produce sleeker playback of 24fps because 120 MHz is an a right multiple of 24 fps, that proves very helpful to keep processing algorithms simple.

About Performance

This LE40A656 has somewhat harshly original HD material in it. Most of HD material in this LE40A656 will leave you with wide open mouth as its full HD resolution offer incredible detail, vibrancy and sharpness in the picture.

It can’t be considered a nice thing for a real accomplished picture performance to convert a Standard Definition (SD) into 1920×1080 pixels, but this LE40A656 has done this as one could expect. Without any doubt, it is one of the most accomplished SD performers we have ever seen.

The LaserVue provides 200% color gamut that is more than double of other available HDTVs. With boasting 500 nits of brightness, the sets run at 120Hz. The colors are more natural than the natural colors and they are as they must be, viewing angle is somewhat mocking to DLP projectors. So far prices are concern we have heard about more comparable to LCD and plasma than DLP. These LaserVue 65-inch and 75-inch portray below than 200 watts that is almost half of the LCD and third of plasma TV.

As Pioneer always states about its goal to have the complete gratification of every Pioneer’s customer by offering novelties in those devices which others are also producing but not according to the quality that is a practice of Pioneer’s products.
Now there is another addition in Pioneer’s quality products as they have introduced PDP-LX508D, a high-definition and high-performance big screen plasma TV.

The asking price is somewhat staggering as it is around 3,300 pounds and more striking is that speakers or desktop stand have not been included in this price.

If compare to very similar HD T.V like Panasonic’s 50’full high-definition 50PZ70 that is available in almost 1200 pounds at different online retailers ,Pioneer’s PDP-LX508D is looking quite expensive and one thing is certain that they will have to justify for that high price.

Pioneer’s best plasma

Its extremely artistic and slim black bezel truly makes it the finest model in its every inch. No doubt it is smart and sexy in its every look and aspect.

It has all what you want or desire for a USB port, a PC port, three v1.3 HDMIs that have the ability to control both the deep color image format that is found in two HD camcorders and 1080p/24 from Blu-ray players. Similarly, a subwoofer line out, an optical digital audio output and a PC port is also available and what else you can desire for.
But yet I didn’t tell you about the most important feature and that feature is Kuro technology of the TV, a feature that gives innovatory pictures, mostly when it is about black levels.

The latest show

These black levels are produced by blending new pixel structure designed to decrease light and color effect .To enhance the screen’s brightness, a new Crystal Emissive Layer has been built into the screen. For contrast and response times, plasma cells diverged by not usual high walls so that seeping of light and color to be avoided. Similarly the image processing has been developed to work differently for light and dark video recordings.

Earlier experience with Pioneer KURO plasmas is enough to prove that the high quality features of PDP-LX508D will be very exciting and we can say that without even testing them. But still we will have to wait and see how much PDP-LX508D full High-definition resolution improves the quality of the picture. A more interesting question is whether it is better than Pioneer’s 508XD.

Improvements in the vital images

There is no doubt about it that improvements have been observed in many vital areas, screen is irresistible, colors are also very well blended and decent, and images feel very realistic and cleaner than any other available big screen plasma . These are some additional qualities with other available kuro’s benefits and a high quality.

Enjoy it if you can

Truly speaking it is quite hard to say something negative about the LX508D’s pictures .All we can say it may prove the boss of bosses in available 50’ plasma screens.

But the thing that matters is cost and if you can afford it, no choice is better than this, however, if cost is not affordable, there are many other siblings of PDP-LX508D and you can enjoy them too.
