An Introduction To Cloud Computing

As technology advances, we are introduced to increasingly complex technologies every day. Most people are reluctant to understand the newest technology available, so by learning more about it we can truly enhance our lives.

A cloud computing service utilizes the Internet to maintain applications, as well as data, which lets businesses and consumers run a variety of applications without the need to install anything. The application can be used on a computer with Internet access as long as it is connected to the internet. Having Internet access to the application will allow you to access it from any computer with Internet access, so you don't have to be at a specific computer in order to use it.

Cloud computing is perhaps not clear to most of us, but many of us are in agreement that it is a product of vision and intelligence. Maybe we can take a look at its history.

Looking back to the mid 90’s to a few internet programs like Yahoo and Google. These were the types of sites that all offered easy to access information on the World Wide Web. These sites rapidly persuaded much of the online communication and involvement we have come to know from such sites as Twitter and Facebook. From the origins of AOL and Yahoo, spurred the mighty Google and this is where computing first really started in the history of cloud computing on the internet. In 2005 Design LLC Cloud Computing bought land in the Dalles of Oregon on behalf of Google to build the first modern server complex on 30 acres of land along the Columbia River. Subsequently, out of this idea backed by these new cloud servers, social media was able to develop soon afterwards. Thus bringing Cloud computing to many people as is seen today. Myspace, Facebook and Twitter in a just a short period of time cam after and these networking apparatus now follow the standard and principle of cloud computing used by businesses today.

At some point, we shouldn’t be surprised if we see some very large businesses with clouds of their own, on their own property and a number of structured integrators to service their customers’ needs for ever growing bandwidth.

Cloud Infrastructure

As customers of a cloud infrastructure do not actually own the cloud infrastructure per se, which they basically rent from a provider. The customer will therefore pay the provider for the service, but they will only pay for what they use. This is very efficient and cost effective for the customer since they don’t have any wasteful spending going towards things that you aren’t even using. No money to spend buying hardware or software to start off with either. The economics of such is thus quite favorable to the clients.

One might wonder where the history of cloud computing came from. The history of cloud computing actually goes back even farther than the mid 90’s. It all started with John McCarthy in about 1960. He claimed that one day computation may be organized like a public utility. He had the idea, before it ever started. The company Amazon played a vital role in the history of cloud computing development. Amazon made their data centers ever more modernized. Amazon found that cloud computing to be much more efficient. As a result Amazon was soon followed by other large companies such as IBM and Google. These companies all realized the great benefits that cloud computing have.

You too already receive the benefits that the history of cloud computing has brought, soon though you may actually realize it!
