The Elura 100, with $400 price tag, is not only small in price but also in size. It is, in fact, one of the smallest camcorders with its 2.2×3.0x 4.3 dimensions. Though it’s not an easy pocket slip but it can be easily adjusted in purse as its quite compact and light weight.
The Elura 100 also very easily adjusts in the hand and has controls at very right spots for an easy shooting. The zoom control lies just below the index finger for its 20X visual whoosh lens. It goes up to 800X for digital zoom but at that level the digital zoom becomes unusable because of the poor image quality. The record button has been artistically placed under the thumb. The mode dial that is found near the thumb makes it quite easy to shift the camcorder from camera mode to player mode.
Elura 100 has a bright and clear 2.7-inch LCD screen and contrary to many other available camcorders it has somewhat different LCD. The entire screen is filled with video when we shoot in the 16:9 wide-screen mode.
The video provided good results but there was a paucity of vivid colors which are usually found in other expensive models. Some colors even vanish in a gray haze if the light is dim.
Elura 100 has an excellent battery life as it can last more than 148 minutes. It is tragic that video quality of Elura is not good enough but still it is somewhat praiseworthy low-price camcorder. It may not confuse the new filmmakers with its compatibility and easy use. So, it is exciting for new users but for cunning filmmakers it’s hmmmmmm.
