Things are not quite different for online shops, and just like high street, there are fewer customers willing to spend money.
According to the internet measuring firm comScore, it is happening first time that online shopping is on decline since it started net measuring in 2001.
In November, US online shoppers spent nearly $8.2bn that was 4 percent down if compared with the previous year’s stats.
The firm predicted that there would be a flat growth for the coming Christmas season and also warned that further decline was also possible.
Gian Fulgoni, firm’s chairman, told that November was quite disappointing from sales point of view and low consumer confidence and tight incomes were the basic reason for that decline.
During the last year, online spending were seen with a 19 percent growth in the Christmas shopping season while during the first ten months of 2008, online spending grew only 9%.
However, many people are not agree with this depressing forecast and many say that the traffic is increasing on online shopping websites with every passing day.
Many believe that online shopping will soon replace high street as the main shopping place, especially in UK and many other European countries.
