Details about Android 13: sweet new name, dynamic themes and more
After the release of Android 9 Pie, Google decided to stop using dessert names for different versions of Android
This week, Google released the first developer preview version of Android 13, which contains many changes based on features introduced in Android 12.
Last year, the first rumors surfaced that Android 13 would be codenamed "Tiramisu" (Tiramisu). Now the information has been fully confirmed. After the release of Android 9 Pie, Google decided to stop using dessert names for different versions of Android. However, the search giant returned to this practice with Android 11 Red Velvet Cake and Android 12 Snow Cone.
As for the highlights of Android 13 that are known so far: The new operating system will bring back dynamic themes, but with better integration with third-party apps. Google has also changed Android 13's approach to personal data security and permissions.
The new photo selection tool will allow users to share photos and videos in local storage as well as in the Google cloud from a separate app, and the app doesn't require permission for all photos. This feature will not be limited to Android 13 and will appear on devices running Android 11 and above.
The final version of Android 13 is due out in August-September of this year.
