Epic Games unveiled RealityScan, a 3D model creation app
Epic Games has released the RealityScan app for creating 3D objects with the camera. For now, it is only available for iPhone owners.
The user needs to take a photo of the object from 20 different angles, preferably in good light and on a monochrome background. After that, a 3D image of the desired object will appear in his smartphone.
The finished model can be downloaded into Sketchfab and used to create augmented reality applications or games on the Unreal Engine.
Right now the RealityScan application can be downloaded through TestFlight. For the beta test in it can register any 10 thousand people who want. The public beta version will appear later this spring.
For Android, the RealityScan app won't be released until late 2022.
