GeForce RTX 40 graphics cards may not be able to compete with Radeon RX 7000

Both in performance and energy efficiency

Until the release of Radeon RX 7000 and GeForce RTX 40 graphics cards at least another six months, but gradually the rumors and leaks are getting more and more. According to the latest data, the next stage of the graphics card war could be won by AMD.

Recall that two of the company's senior GPUs in the new generation will be dual-chip. They are Navi 31 and Navi 32. And numerous leaks indicate that the conditional Radeon RX 7900 XT on the full Navi 31 will have 15 360 stream processors, that is three times more than the Navi 21 and RX 6900 XT based on it.

Nvidia, on the other hand, will use monolithic Ada Lovelace generation GPUs, where the older AD102 can get 18,432 CUDA cores, which is less than double the current GA102.

These calculations alone suggest that the Radeon RX 7000 graphics cards will be more productive than the GeForce RTX 40.

The source adds to the fact that AMD will again focus on energy efficiency, which the company has worked well with RDNA 2.

And it's not like the RDNA 2 vs. Ampere standoff, where, generally speaking, AMD's architecture has been more efficient most of the time. This time, I think Nvidia had a real problem with the efficiency of its architecture

As a reminder, the GeForce RTX 4090 is attributed a power consumption of 450 to 600 watts. It is possible that by increasing the power limit Nvidia will try to fight with new products from AMD.

Separately, it is worth remembering that many months ago there were rumors in the network that the Lovelace GPU will not be able to compete with the older Navi, and in this case Nvidia may release top graphics cards RTX 40 on the GPU Hopper, which initially will be focused on computing. The senior GPU of this lineup is just supposed to be a two-chip. By the way, about the architecture Hopper company Nvidia should tell in a few days.
