Google issues warning to millions of Chrome users

Google has warned that its browser has several new high-level vulnerabilities, including one that it considers "critical. This is something you need to know to stay safe.

Google issued the warning in an official blog post , confirming 11 new hacks, nine of which it considers high-level threats in addition to the critical exploit mentioned above. All Chrome users running Windows, macOS and Linux are vulnerable.

As standard practice, Google is currently limiting information about new hacks in an attempt to buy time for Chrome users to update. Nevertheless, the company has listed where successful exploits have occurred, and this forms a familiar pattern. Listed below are the 10 most serious ones:

Critical - CVE-2022-0971 : use after release in Blink Layout. This was reported by Sergey Glazounov of Google Project Zero on February 21, 2022.

High - CVE-2022-0972 : use after free in extensions. This was reported by Sergey Glazunov of Google Project Zero on February 28, 2022.

High - CVE-2022-0973 : use after free in secure browsing. This was reported by avaue and Buff3tts in SSL on February 15, 2022.

High - CVE-2022-0974 : use after free use in split screen. This was reported by @ginggilBesel on January 28, 2022.

High - CVE-2022-0975 : use after free in ANGLE. This was reported by SeongHwan Park (SeHwa) on February 9, 2022.

High - CVE-2022-0976 : heap buffer overflow in GPU. This is reported by Omair on February 13, 2022.

High - CVE-2022-0977 : use after free use in browser UI. This was reported by Khalil Jani on February 20, 2022.

High - CVE-2022-0978 : use after free in ANGLE. This was reported by Cassidy Kim of Amber Security Lab, OPPO Mobile Telecommunication Corp. Ltd. on February 20, 2022.

High - CVE-2022-0979 : use after free in secure browsing. Reported by Anonymous on 03/03/2022.

Medium - CVE-2022-0980 : use after free use on new tab page.
